The Salzburg open-air museum is located at the foot of the Untersberg, not far from the Sallerhof.

Start the journey into the rural past of Salzburg: Over 100 historical original buildings from agriculture, handicraft, trade and industry show you the way of life of days gone by.

Exciting handicraft demonstrations, exhibitions and markets round off the experience in the Großgmain open-air museum.

The Untersberg rises majestically on the outskirts of the city of Salzburg.

With the Untersbergbahn you can enjoy a comfortable ride up to 1,850 meters.

From there you have a wonderful view of the Salzburg Basin, the Berchtesgadener Land and the lakes of the Alpine foothills and the Königsee on the Bavarian side.

The Schafbergbahn is a nostalgic cogwheel steam locomotive and is one of the oldest in the world. The Schafbergbahn overcomes 1,190 meters of altitude and 5.85 kilometers in 40 minutes.

Passing meadows and forests, you can enjoy the view of the picturesque Wolfgangsee while driving.
On the Schafberg you will find numerous hiking tours of varying degrees of difficulty.

The "Eagle's Nest"

Up to Obersalzberg in Berchtesgaden at 1000 meters above sea level.

The road to the Kehlsteinhaus, also called "Adlerhorst" or "Eagle's Nest", begins at Obersalzberg, one of the most beautiful mountain roads in Europe, which can only be used with regional buses.

The Kehlsteinhaus itself was a present from Martin Bormann to Adolf Hilter on his 50th birthday. The purpose of the house was to entertain official guests.

After the end of the war, the house escaped being demolished by the Allies and is still open to visitors in its original form.

Surrounded by high cliffs, the emerald green lake lies like a fjord in the middle of the Bavarian Alps.

The landscape around the Königssee is still as untouched and enchanting today as it was in royal times.

St. Bartholomä at the Koenigssee

The pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomä, the landmark of the Königsee, can only be reached by boat.

Located directly on the lakeshore on a picturesque peninsula, it appears to be
like an idyllic haven of peace in the middle of the mountains.

Next to the pilgrimage church is the former hunting lodge, which today serves as an idyllic inn.
