The historic cog railway takes you to the mountain top
Since 1893, the steepest steam powered rack railway in Austria has run from St. Wolfgang up to the Schafberg ("Sheep Mountain").
In 40 minutes you cover 1190 metres of altitude and 5.85 km. These steam engines are some of the oldest in the world.
Even after 100 years this locomotive is still extremely popular. 600.000 people use it every year to enjoy the fantastic view from the top of the Schafberg.
