Mirabell CastleSince 1954 the Salzburger Schlosskonzerte have been offering their international audiences classical music of the highest standards.
Over 300 concerts a year take place in the Marble Concert Hall which is also famous as one of the most beautiful wedding halls in the world.
The programme concentrates on the music of Mozart and his contemporaries.
The exquisitely designed gardens and the magnificent Marble Concert Hall provide us with an authentic impression of the elegant form of the Mirabell Palace as it was in Mozart's lifetime.
The Palace was built in 1606 for Salome Alt by the Archbishop of Salzburg, Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau.
In 1721 Johannes Lukas von Hildebrandt remodelled the original building. The City Fire of 1818 burned down most of the Mirabell Palace. Fortunately the Marble Hall and the Raphael Donner Staircase were not damaged. Today the mayor of Salzburg has his office in the Mirabell Palace.

The spectacular staircase with its beautiful Raphael Donner sculptures leads to the extraordinary Marble Concert Hall (Marmorsaal) which is only open to the public during concerts and weddings.
It is known that in this hall Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performed regularly together with his father Leopold Mozart and his sister Nannerl.
The Salzburg Schlosskonzerte give you the chance to listen to Salzburg's best ensembles and chamber orchestras performing with internationally renowned soloists, members of the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras, and young competition winners.
Daniel Barenboim, Igor Oistrach, Jeremy Menuhin, James Galway, Hermann Prey, Ingrid Haebler and many other prestigious artists have performed in the Salzburger Schlosskonzerte.
