Sunday, June 10th, 2012 Sound of Music

Last Fall/Winter the Salzburger Theater started showing the musical ‚The Sound of Music’, with big success! Since then 35 shows have taken place, all of which were completely sold out. Therefore the musical is supposed to stay in the programm for another year, also to finance more riskier productions. Additional shows of the popular musical in English are also planned.

Monday, January 16th, 2012 Special exhibition Sound of Music

A special treat for all people interested in the Sound of Music, is the exhibition in the Panoramamuseum.

As the caption of the exhibition (The family Trapp: Reality and Sound of Music) already states, historic facts and the transformation of the story through the media are discussed. The topic covers many aspects: from the family Trapp, their emigration to the USA, the heirs, the musicals and the film as well as the consequences on tourism in Salzburg.

Additionally, there are 100 objects from the family Trapp and from the musical and film displayed, that have never been shown before. 

The exhibition stays in Salzburg for a year, until November 2012.

Thursday, October 13th, 2011 Sound of Music

On October 23, the Musical Sound of Music finally is back in Salzburg! The two main actors are Wietske van Tongeren and Uwe Kröger, both international popular actors. Over 300 children went to the casting in spring in hop of getting a role as Trapp child, 30 children finally made it in the cast. 

The popular musical is played in german with english subtitles from October until June. On request the musical is also played in English.

Take your chance and enjoy the Sound of Music in the city of Salzburg, where it all began!

 Our tip: Enjoy the film version from 1965 in the Sallerhof to get in the mood for a musical evening in Salzburg!

Already the architecture of the pavilion “white noise”, better known as hedgehog is worth seeing.

Inside Salzburg’s most curious exhibition room there is currently an exhibition of professor Erich Lessing with pictures of the making of the well known film “Sound of Music”.
