Thursday, April 26th, 2012 Salzburg marathon

On May 6th the Salzburg Marathon takes place for the 9th time. Formerly know as AMREF-Marathon, the Salzburg Marathon is one of the most popular und international running event in Austria. Maybe it is the extraordinary and unique scenery of the city center and surroundings that makes the Salzburg Marathon so special?

There is still time to make a reservation- until April 29th! But also non-participants are welcome. Several music and entertainment groups are going to be stationed alongside the route. A laugh-yoga group and a group of clown doctors are also going to take place- because this year the Salzburg Marathon and the World Laughter Day is on the same day!

Thursday, February 9th, 2012 Cable car Untersberg

The cable car up the Untersberg exists since 1961. This popular local recreation area invites for a variety of sports like hiking, climbing, skiing and other.

Also the great view over the city of Salzburg and the Bavarian Alps is worth a visit.

With the Salzburg Card, a special sightseeing card for Salzburg, you can use the cable car for free. There are also a variety of promotion days on which the cable car costs less.

On the world women day, on March 8 for example, girls and women only pay 4 Euro for a ride up and back from the Untersberg.

With the Salzburg-Flachau ski shuttle bus to the Snow Space- convenient and free of charge

 From Dezember until March you can enjoy the comfortable ski shuttle service. You just have to get  to the bus stop (just a few walking minutes away from the Sallerhof) in the morning. A multilingual guide brings you to the ski resort and also helps you with tickets and rental equipment. In the afternoon you are brought back to Salzburg.

 The ski resort Flachau is 70 km away from Salzburg. There are 60 km of freshly prepared slopes in different levels of difficulty awaiting for you!

Monday, January 2nd, 2012 start the new year with a turn

Skiing is one of the most popular sports in Austria. In the middle of a snowy mountain scenery skiing is a lot of fun. Additionally, it also helps keeping your figure after the rich holiday-food.

There are many nice skiing resorts in Salzburg, many of them just a few driving minutes from the Sallerhof away. Big world famous ski regions as well as quaint little family winter vacation spots offer modern lifts and state-of-the-art gondolas that bring you up to well maintained slopes of all sizes and difficulty levels. 22 ski regions, 580 lifts and 1700km of pistes await you!

And if the weather isn’t good or you don’t feel like skiing: the city of Salzburg is always a nice and diverse place for excursions!

Friday, November 25th, 2011 Ice skating in the city center

In the Salzburg city center, on the Mozartplatz, a special ice skating place with an unique scenery awaits.

From November 12th until January 9th the ice skating place is open. There is also an ice skating shoes rental and a reduction for children and students.

For those who do not want to skate or warm themselves up, there are several market stands with punch and other drinks and also the Christmas market next to the ice skating place.

Monday, June 27th, 2011 Summer alpine slide

One of the nicest summer activities are summer toboggan runs.

The longest one in Salzburg is the ‘Keltenblitz’ on the Dürrnberg near Hallein. It is about 2 km long and ensures fun and action for the young and young at heart.

In summertime it is daily open, given the weather is dry. You can either hike up there or take the chair lift.

Saturday, June 4th, 2011 Yoga on the mountain Untersberg

Whether you are a beginner or a pro- if you are interested in yoga you are without doubt going to like the yoga class on mountain Untersberg.

Every Friday and Saturday afternoon there is the possibility to join a yoga class- amidst the impressive scenery and nature of the mountain Untersberg. After a short hike you reach a special energy place for your yoga exercises. Afterwards you can relax during a concert.

There is a professional fitness and stretching station where you can do your warming up and stretching. You can also rent your Nodric Walking poles in Grödig. And if you like to meet new people we can recommend the Nordic Walking meet every thuesday afternoon, where visitors and locals meet and share their interest in Nordic Walking!
