In the summer 2012 we received two special awards: the certificate of excellence from Tripadvisor and the Quality Selection Award from Holidaycheck.
Tripadvisor as well as Holidaycheck give their awards to hotels that receive especially good feedback from their guests.
Both awards are a fantastic acknowledgment to our work and sign of the contentment of our guests. We are very happy that our guests enjoyed their stay with us so much in the year 2012. With new energy we start into the new year and try to pamper you at the Sallerhof as good as possible.
We wish you a good start into the year 2013 and hopefully we can welcome you at the Sallerhof in the next year!

With this slogan, the first trail running festival in Salzburg starts from October 27 until October 28!
What is trail running? Trail running is a sport that combines running and hiking. The trails are in the nature or in unusual terrain, like mountains.
The Salzburg Festival offers a variety of interesting trails. There is a trail through the city center, one up on the Fortress Salzburg, one up on the Gaisberg Mountain and one trail for children. With the Salzburg Festival, not only do you have the unique environment of the city of Salzburg while running. Also the trails are diverse. Stairs, spiral stairs, gravel, paving stones, nature and city scenery, narrow turns….
For a visual impression of the city trail up the Fortress you can also watch the video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN78nJ3dwfE
A popular and diverse location for excursion is the mountain Untersberg. On the 70 km2 big mountain, there is almost nothing you cannot do. Whether you just want to go up with the cable car and enjoy the 360° view or be sportive active (for example hiking, climbing, skiing, paragliding, or alpine skiing)- the Untersberg offers it all!
From October 15th until October 28th, there are discounts on the cable car. As a special gift for hikers in autumn, the cable car costs 16,- Euro instead of 21,- Euro (up and down, per adult). Children pay 8,- Euro both ways (instead of 10,50 Euro).
Afterwards the cable car is closed (from October 29th until December 21st) for amendments.

Outside the city center, in the middle of a beautiful natural landscape, is the open air museum of Großgmain. On the 50 ha big property over 100 buildings from the rural regions of Salzburg display traditional culture and way of life.
There is a 7 km long walk between the different areas, but the railway on the museum property also helps you get around. The open air museum is especially popular with families and offers many interesting attractions like old tractors and tools, historic taverns and buildingns with pleasant gardens, a Kneipp facility, a butterfly trail and a house of sound. Demonstrations of different handicrafts also enrich the museum.
Don’t miss the fair at the open air museum: From October 6th to October 7th, a fair with traditional music, food and games, brings holiday mood into the open air museum!
From October 10th until October 14th, jazz is back in Salzburg. International known Musicians like the Sofa Surfers, Bratsch, the Jack DeJohnette Group or the Stone Raiders play at this years’ festival.

You might wonder, why the title of this blog is ‚New Year’s Eve’- and that in September. Well, in Austria, we celebrate New Year’s Eve twice: once in December and the second time in September!
From September 24th until September 30th, there is a beer festival and the highlight of the festival is the so called Brausilvester, the breweries New Year’s Eve.
But lets start at the beginning. Hundreds of years ago, there was no possibility to cool beer during summer. Because beer needs to stay cool in order to be enjoyable, beer was only made during autumn/winter from September 29th until April 23rd. Therefore, the breweries New Year’s Eve was a celebration of the last and new beer season.
Although there are now sufficient possibilities to cool beer, the breweries New Year’s Eve stayed. Almost all of the breweries in Austria, and of course Salzburg offer special events for this occasion. For further information on the participating breweries and the breweries New Year’s Eve you can visit their homepage: http://www.brausilvester.at/cm3/
