Only 11 days until Christmas! So the “Christkind” as we call it in Austria is not far away.
For those you haven´t got already presents for their friends and families that means that they will have to enter crowded shopping malls. Those who have prepared everything yet can enjoy their evenings at our traditional Christmas market in Salzburg!

This year our traditional Christmas market (we call it “Christkindlmarkt”) celebrates its 40th anniversary. Traditional handcraft, toys and delicious food…this market in Salzburg´s City centre offers everything you need for a great Christmas time!
There is another 40 year jubilee here in our area: St. Leonhard´s Christmas market invites you to have a nice and peaceful Christmas time. On Weekends they even have a special program for you. St. Leonhard is just a few Walking minutes away from the Sallerhof!

The Waldbad Anif offers a special winter atmosphere. In summer it invites you to go swimming – but in wintertime it changes into a Christmas market full with art, culture and food. Christmas atmosphere for those, who like to enjoy Christmas time away from the busy city centre. Along the lake several exhibitors present their art while you can enjoy the great variety of food.
Opened from November 22th to December 29th; only on weekends (Friday – Sunday). On Friday the entrance is free, Saturday/Sunday free entrance for children under 14; adults pay 3,50€
This year the popular circus show Africa! Africa! of André Heller comes to Salzburg.
From December 4th to 11th there is one show each day at the Haus für Mozart. Africa! Africa! is one of the most popular circus shows ever – already 4 millions of people have visited the great show. This year it offers even more special arrangements and effects. So even if you have seen it already – for sure it is worth a second visit!
This winter Salzburg´s Volksgarten will change again into a huge stage for modern circus: The Winter Festival is here again!
From November 27th to January 6th unbelievable acrobats show their best performances in three big tops. Youths will have the chance to be creative in seveal circus workshops.
It is the perfect chance to get out of the hurry around Christmas: You can combine a peaceful winter evening with a great show and a good dinner.

For Jazz lovers: cafés, bars and squares of Salzburg´s “Old City” will transform into stages from October 9th to 13th. It is the best way to combine a great dinner with amazing music. Use these five days to enjoy the variety of Jazz…from world famous music up to newcomers!

On October 5th you can turn night into day: Visit some museums and galleries at a time, when they are normally closed. The “Long Night of Museums” is held across Austria and about 700 museums open their doors for visitors between 6 pm and 1 am. The ticket costs 13 euro per person and includes shuttle busses as well. Entrance for children under 12 years is free.
There are lots of special events on October 5th, so just look up the brochure (available at all museums and Salzburg Information Offices) and find out in which one you are interested!

The end of summer comes closer..but there´s no need to be sad! Autumn is also an exciting time here in Salzburg. In harvest time there are lots of local events where you can enjoy the great atmosphere of traditional Austrian autumn.
If you like to go hiking in the mountain or to visit several places by bike, you will have a great time even if you just come to try typical local products and dishes at the autumn markets. You still have enough time : Salzburg celebrates autumn from 24th August to 27th October.
The most popular event in the city centre is the “Rupertikirtag” which takes place from 20th to 24th September.
