The chocolate factory in Grödig is an insider’s tip for all people with a sweet tooth.
The local company ‘Salzburg Chocolate’ produces products like sugar-coated pills, waffles or chocolate bars. But what they are especially known for are the Mozartkugeln of Mirabell, (chocolate covered balls filled with nougat and marzipan, named after the famous musician W.A. Mozart) which are made in this factory.
You can purchase chocolate and treats for your family, friends and yourself at the shop nearby the factory from Monday til Saturday.
Our environment and the economical use of resources are important to us at the Sallerhof. We are happy about all our guests that also try to treat our environment with care!
Therefore we offer free city-bicycles for all guests that arrive with public transport!
We offer modern bicycles, equipped with lights and a bicycle pump. And if you are not in the mood for a bike trip- then you benefit from the good public transport system in Salzburg. Between the Sallerhof and the city centre of Salzburg and many atractive sights around Salzburg, there is a frequent connection with bus 25.
Every summer the small and quaint Salzburg turns into an international stage when the cultural highlight of the year is in full activity.
The Salzburg Festival offers a big variety of premium concerts, theatres and operas. You can find the detailed programme here: http://www.salzburgerfestspiele.at.
But despite the changing programme, there are some highlights that say the same. One of them is the beloved play ‘Jedermann’ (Everyman) of Hugo von Hofmannsthal, that premiered at the first Salzburg Festival in 1920 and was played every year since then. Also the festival ball in the last week on August 31st is a popular festivity.
For those who do not have tickets, there are the Siemens Festival nights. In the city center on the Kapitelplatz a lot of the plays and concerts are shown on an open-air cinema screen. This enables you to enjoy current Festival productions for free and in front of the special scenery of the city center and the fortress.

The Untersberg is not only a popular recreation area in the south of Salzburg city- it is also a natural water reservoir for Grödig and the city of Salzburg. The various springs and founts at the bottom of the mountain cover 90% of the water demand of Salzburg city and Grödig.
The water from Grödig is of excellent quality and gets good results at every testing. Therefore the water just needs to be degermed and can be given away in its natural state.
Our guests from all over the world point out that the high quality of our water is not self-evident and that often enough they cannot drink their water from the tap at home like we do in Grödig. Therefore we are very proud of the quality of our water and try to use it as economical as possible.
For further information about the water in Grödig you can visit the website of the local water association: http://wasser-groedig.at/seite_11.html
